The HBT-3 Bagpipe tuner is small compact digital tuner ideal for the individual piper. It features a large LCD display that shows the note being detected, it’s frequency, it’s pitch position and if the tuner is calibrated (meaning setting the reference position to ‘0’ so when a note is in tune the needle moves to the centre position) the LCD screen changes to green.

To tune your bagpipes with the HBT-3 Bagpipe Tuner,  sound Low A, calibrate the tuner to the frequency your Low A is displaying on the screen by moving the up/ down arrows, then start fine tuning your chanter and drones. When a note is flat or sharp the needle will be either side of the ‘0’ position, when in tune the LCD will glow green. It’s that easy!

Additionally, the HBT-3 Bagpipe Tuner has an adjustable needle speed so if a reed is misbehaving and hard its hard to maintain a steady pitch, the adjustment programs a tolerance to slow down the needle speed. Learn more below.

One of the great advantages of using a HBT-3 Bagpipe tuner is being able to set up your own chanter before playing with other pipers. Simply ask the lead piper what pitch they’re tuning to, key the number into the HBT-3 and start tuning your own chanter before the event. A great time saver!
